About Us

Thank you for your interest in joining our pack. Established in 1940, we’re the oldest pack in Batavia. Chartered by Alice Gustafson PTO, we are located on Batavia's west side and welcome all boys and girls K-5.

What are ranks and how does advancement work?
If you or your family were in Cub Scouts, you may notice some changes since you were a
kid. Lion Scouts were introduced as a pilot program in 2016 and are their own rank within
the pack. The 2024-2025 school year introduced Arrow of Light as a separate rank from
Webelos, instead of “Webelos Part 2.” The ranks are as follows:
Lion – Kindergarten
Tiger – 1st Grade
Wolf –2nd Grade
Bear – 3rd Grade
Webelos - 4th Grade
Arrow of Light – 5th Grade

Scouts achieve advancement by completing four required adventures and two elective
adventures by the end of the school year. Ranks do not build on top of each other, and you
always work on the adventures and activities for your designated school year.

How often do you meet? What’s the time commitment?
We have monthly pack meetings which are typically held the 3rd Monday of the month at
7pm in the AGS Multipurpose Room during the school year. Dens also meet once a month
at a day/time determined best by the families involved. We also plan a monthly local hike
(usually Sunday afternoons). Our goal is for all scouts to attend pack and den meetings.
Obviously that’s not possible between illness, vacations, and other plans! If you miss a den
meeting, your Den Leader will work with you on what you may have missed to make up at
home. The Cub Scout motto is “Do Your Best”!

What other activities do you do?
Our special pack meetings are the Pinewood Derby in January, Blue & Gold Celebration
(Scouting’s Birthday) in February, and AOL Advancement in March. We also have Fall and
Spring camping trips and a summer pool party. Sometimes other activities will pop up, like
the chance to be on the ice/field at a sporting event or weekend activities held by Three
Fires Council.
